Is it your goal to figure out how to make money on the Internet this year? To do this, you are going to have to let people know that your business exists through marketing. I understand that marketing costs money. Money which you may not have to spend. This is why I have written this article. I am going to show you how to stretch your advertising dollars.

1. Dealings

Think of that person who you know who always manages to fast talk their way into a great deal. While you paid full price, they were able to negotiate a discount which you only wished you had gotten. Do you know what they did to get that discount? They simply asked for the discount. They made their purchase of the product contingent upon them receiving the price that they were willing to pay. Their demeanor made it clear to the salesperson that if they did not get the price that they were willing to pay there, they would go and get it from a competitor.

When it comes to marketing your business, there is always room for negotiation. Your job is to get the best possible price from the advertiser. If you do not get your price, you are willing to walk away. Just think about the price which a webmaster charges for a 125×125 banner on a high traffic website within your niche. I see these websites with vacant spaces all of the time. How much money does a webmaster make from a vacant banner space? You guess it, $0. Therefore, if they are asking for $50 per month, and you offer $25 per month for three months, they will most likely realize that a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. You are giving them $75, and eliminating the risk that they receive absolutely nothing for that space.

Remember, how to make money is a blood relative of how to save money. They both have the same last name, and increase your profit margin.

2. Elimination

Bigger ads attract more customers, right? Actually, this is not true. What is true is that with advertising, smaller ads tend to do better than larger, more expensive ads. So realize that if you limit size, you are not necessarily limiting the results.

3. Utilization

There are very few people who are able to distinguish advertising from publicity. The reason being that both are very similar, but at the same time very different. What it comes down to is who is doing to talking. For instance, if you are talking about your business to others, telling them how its products or services benefit them, this is advertising. However, when others speak positively about your products or services to their customers, friends, associates, and family, this is publicity. You probably know this as word of mouth or viral marketing. This type of publicity is highly effective, as someone is endorsing your business.

Come up with ways to get your business into the spotlight. Is something new coming up regarding your company? If so, write a press release. Write some “how to” articles with a short byline at the end and release them to ezines, magazines, newspapers, and other publishers. Also, there is nothing harmful in promoting the product of a non-competitor in return for them promoting your product. Just think of the market they have access to which you do not. This is a mutually beneficial situation which will show both of you how to make money beyond your specific markets.

4. Improvement

Do you have an offer which is too good to refuse? Well if you do not, you need to improve the offer. This does not mean doling out rock bottom prices to anyone who visits your website. Rather, you just need to make the offer a little more attractive. This can be done by increasing the reader’s knowledge of how the product helps him or her. Otherwise, you can add bonuses which are perceived as valuable, but cost you very little.

Motivate buyers with expiring offers. If you leave your offer open, procrastination will ensue. For instance, I went looking at computers back in August of 2009, just to price shop. However, while I was price shopping, I saw that there was a “Back To School” sale on the computer which I am currently typing on which ended that day. I ended up saving $200 on that August day.

Just keep in mind that when you venture to figure out how to make money, you have to also figure out how to get things for less. There is nothing wrong with negotiation. Everyone who you talk to knows that you have options, and will appreciate the opportunity to gain your business. Thus, when you pay less, your expenses decrease, which allows your profits to increase.
